General
We combine American service standards with deep local Peruvian expertise. Our founders - an American teacher and a Cusco native - ensure every trip is both professionally organized and authentically local. We specialize in small groups and customized itineraries.
We offer tours throughout Peru, Ecuador (including the Galapagos Islands), Bolivia, and Chile. Peru is our primary destination with the most extensive tour offerings.
We recommend booking 3-6 months in advance, especially for popular treks like the Inca Trail which requires permits. Peak season (June-August) fills up quickly. However, we can often accommodate last-minute bookings for non-permit tours.
Booking & Payment
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) and bank transfers through our US banking system. A deposit is required to secure your booking, with the balance due before departure.
Cancellation policies vary by tour type and timing. Generally, cancellations made 60+ days before departure receive a full refund minus deposit. Please refer to our detailed cancellation policy or contact us for specific terms.
While we don't sell insurance directly, we strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance. We partner with Squaremouth to help you find the best coverage for your trip.
Health & Safety
We recommend arriving in Cusco (3,400m) a day or two early to acclimatize. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, eat light meals, and consider altitude sickness medication (consult your doctor). Our itineraries are designed with proper acclimatization in mind.
Requirements vary by destination. Yellow fever vaccination is recommended for Amazon trips. We suggest consulting a travel medicine clinic 4-6 weeks before departure. Routine vaccinations should be up to date.
Tourist areas in Peru are generally very safe. We have operated safely for over a decade. Our guides are trained in first aid, and we maintain communication throughout your trip. We monitor conditions and adjust itineraries if needed.
Machu Picchu & Inca Trail
Yes, the classic Inca Trail requires a permit which must be purchased in advance. Only 500 permits are issued daily (including guides and porters), so book early - permits can sell out months ahead, especially for May-September.
The Inca Trail is moderately challenging, covering 26 miles over 4 days with the highest point at 4,215m (Dead Woman's Pass). Good physical fitness is required. We also offer easier alternatives like the Salkantay Trek or train options.
Absolutely! Our Machu Picchu by Train tours offer comfortable access via scenic train through the Sacred Valley. This is a great option for those with limited time or mobility concerns.
Packing & Preparation
Essentials include: hiking boots (broken in), rain gear, layers for varying temperatures, sun protection, personal medications, and a good daypack. We provide detailed packing lists specific to your tour after booking.
Peru's dry season (May-October) offers the best trekking conditions. Wet season (November-April) has afternoon rains but fewer crowds and lush landscapes. Temperatures vary greatly with altitude - pack layers!
No, all our guides speak fluent English. However, learning a few Spanish phrases enhances your experience and is appreciated by locals.
